Huawei Just Overtook Apple. Time For Phase 2.

A few years ago, Huawei overtook Apple to become the world’s second largest smartphone seller, only beaten out by Samsung. In late 2022, the US charged two Chinese intelligenceofficers for trying to steal data regarding the case against Huawei. The US accuses that China is using Huaweito also spy on radio communications from military bases, missile silos, and who knows. what else. With Huawei becoming the largest smartphoneproducer in the world, this threat is only growing larger by the day. The story of Huawei dates back to September of 1987, to a man named Atthe time, China was desperately trying to develop their technology. and economy. For the past few decades, China had fallenquite behind due to internal conflict. and the communist revolution. But, moving into the 1980s, China wanted tochange that by embracing. the free market to a degree. One of these efforts centered on trying todevelop China’S telecommunications infrastructure. He got together a couple of investors. andraised a total of $5000 to start Huawei. It turned out that trying to copy technologyitself took quite. a bit of time. So, to start bringing in some revenue, Renstarted to resell private. branch exchange or PBX switches that he imported from HongKong. The point to. note though is that Ren had nointention of developing anything himself. Instead, his plan was to acquire foreign techand reverse engineer it using local researchers. And when I say reverse engineer, I don’tmean trying to understand the tech and creating something new. I mean blatantly. ripping off competitors andcreating counterfeits. It’dbe right. If you’ve been following international. news, you probably know that Huwaei has a sketchy past when it comes to surveillance and. datacollection. The U.S. only disclosed that it had to. do with a large Chinese telecommunications company, but it’s assumed that they’re probablytalking about Huawei. And with Huawei being the world's largest smartphone producer, they could be using their marketshare to spy on the world for China. And they could also be using that power to sell you stuff. The threat is. only growing bigger and bigger by theday. It's time to take a closer look at how Huawei rose to overtake Samsungand Apple,. and how they could use their market share to spying on the rest of the world. The time to act is now, and it's time for the world to act, not just for Huawei, but for all tech companies and all of us as a whole.
